Ronnie Long Released From Prison After 44 Years
Ronnie Long, 64, was released from a North Carolina prison last month after serving 44 years for a crime he did not commit. A federal judge recently vacated the conviction, stating there was a “troubling and striking pattern of deliberate police suppression of material evidence”.
A study by the National Registry of Exonerations published September 1 found that 54 percent of false convictions have been a result of government officials’ misconduct, while 35 percent of false convictions have been a result of police misconduct.
